Alice Veryl Hobbis, 84, Topeka, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003 at a Topeka nursing home.
She was born Dec. 5, 1919 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Roger and Ann Hilferty Hobbis. She graduated from high school in St. Louis, and served in the US Army during WW2 and the Korean Conflict. She had lived in topeka since the late 1960's.
Miss Hobbis was a member of the Catholic Church. She worked as a rate clerk for a trucking company in St. Louis following her discharge. She was a volunteer at the VA Hospital Medical Library from 1975-1998, and had amassed almost 7900 volunteer hours.
She is survives by a cousin, Paricia Herrmann of Chesterfield, MO.
Funeral services will be 3:00 pm today at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will be in Calvery Cemetery, St. Louis on Saturday.
