Alice Blasi

July 12, 1930 — May 4, 2022

Alice Marie Blasi passed away peacefully at the age of ninety-one in her daughter's home in Topeka, KS on May 4, 2022. She is the daughter of Clarence P Bond and Bessie R Geiger and is preceded in death by her parents, her younger sister, Betty May Trapp, and her son, Michael Charles Blasi. She is survived by her husband, Charles LeRoy Blasi, her daughter Linda May Blasi, her five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Alice Bond was born July 12, 1930 in Denver, Colorado. Her father worked military contracts and her family moved to Everest, Kansas where she went to primary and secondary school, graduating from Everest High School in 1947. She attended a year of college at Baker University, and then took a teaching job in Rushville, MO where she taught 7th and 8th grade for three years to earn money to return to school. She then attended Mount St Scholastica in Atchison, KS (now Benedictine College) studying general education. She met Charles Blasi in high school and they were eventually married on December 27, 1952. With their two children, they moved to multiple states across the country during Charles's service in the United States Marine Corps. They settled in Topeka, Kansas in 1970 where she lived the rest of her days. Alice stated these were the happiest years of her life. She was a devoted wife and mother.

Alice worked at Washburn Rural High School as a learning resource secretary and in the accounts and receivables office, retiring in 1990. It always brought her joy to see former students who recognized her years later at community events. During her retirement, Alice loved to spoil her grandchildren, attending all events and providing childcare whenever possible. She loved traveling with her family through several countries in Europe and across the United States, particularly to Alaska, Colorado, and Maine. Her most recent trips included visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at age eighty-six, and all four parks of Disney World Resort for the first time at ninety-one years old.

Alice's hobbies included cross-stitch, math and number games, and putting together puzzles. She was a gifted seamstress and an avid reader. Her talent for homestyle cooking will live on in the memories of all who ate it. She loved taking care of her many pets throughout her life, most recently her dogs Sadie and Boomer, and giving them too many treats.

She will lie in rest at Mount Hope Cemetery, Memorial Circle. Funeral arrangements will be private for family and close friends. Floral arrangements, cards and letters may be sent to 3121 SW Briarwood Circle, Topeka, KS 66611.
