Alice A. “Billie” Vaughn went to join her husband on Friday, May 3, 2024. Bud passed away on November 18, 2012.
She was born August, 31, 1929 to Edward and Faye Smith in Topeka, Kansas.
Billie attended 501 schools where she met Bud at Topeka High School in 1945. Later they met again on a blind date, and married on February 10, 1965.
Billie worked at St. Francis Hospital. She participated in the Foster Care Program for several years, caring for five foster children. She also participated in volunteer work.
Survivors are two sons, Patrick W. Vaughn and Randy (Cherie) Byrd, both of Topeka; two daughters, Billie (Mike) Rose of Topeka and Sandy (Bill) Foster of Hebron, Indiana; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; one sister, Rita Sovanski of Puyallup, WA and one brother, Clarence Smith of San Marcose, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister; two brothers; her stepson, Buddy Vaughn and grandson Jared Pfeifer of the U.S. Coast Guard of Kodiak, Alaska.
The family will greet friends and relatives from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, KS. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at West Lawn Memorial Gardens in Topeka, Kansas. In her honor, memorial contributions can be made to Phoenix Home Care & Hospice, 2945 SW Wanamaker Dr., Ste B, Topeka, KS 66614 or contributions can be made in Bud’s honor to Midland Hospice Care, 200 SW Frazier Court, Topeka, KS 66606.
