Alex W. "Bill" Tenbrink, 83, Wakarusa, passed away August 3, 2013. He was born the seventh of seven children on December 22, 1929, in Alma, Kansas, the son of Ben and Emma Horstman Tenbrink.
He attended school in Alma and worked as a lift operator for the US Postal Service for 27 years and tended cattle and farmed. On April 12, 1952, in Wamego, Bill married Marcia Haid. She preceded him in death on December 27, 1968. Bill later married Norma L. Cloud on July 14, 1971, in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Steven (Chaunzey) Tenbrink, Jay (Christine) Tenbrink, DeeAnn (Clay) Bergstrom, Melody Mills, Angela (Kevin) Hayden, Deborah O'Brian and John Tenbrink; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Bill was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Topeka. He enjoyed family get togethers, gardening, tending his cattle, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Berryton. Mr. Tenbrink will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. To leave a special memory of Bill, please visit the guestbook below.
