Albert D. Lollar, 71, Topeka, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2006 at a local hospital.
Albert was born February 5, 1935 in Jamesport, Missouri, the son of Roy and Minnie Lollar. His family moved to Holton, Kansas in 1943 and he graduated from Holton High School in 1953.
Albert married Darlene Tuck on February 9, 1956 in Holton.
He was a member of the Golden Rule Lodge No. 90 AF & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Arab Shrine, Provost Guard, Hospital Dad's Club, Twin Lakes Shrine Club, Life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Sons of the American Legion, Jayhawk Area Council Boy Scouts of America, Topeka Coin Club and First Christian Church. He was President of the Kansas Retail Liquor Dealers Association for several years, and Secretary-Treasurer of the National Retail Liquor Dealers Association.
Albert worked for the Kansas City Star Newspaper for 25 years, Safelite Auto Glass for 18 years, owned Lollar's Liquor Store for 27 years, and currently owned Problem Solver Downtown Antique Mall.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years; son, Michael and wife, Connie; daughter, Sandra Dowell and husband, Larry; grandson, Christopher Lollar and granddaughter, Jennifer Lollar; all of Topeka, and a sister, Irene Smith, Slaton, TX. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bambi Tilton; and a brother, Virgil.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Mr. Lollar will lie in state at the funeral home after 3:00 p.m. on Sunday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
