Albert E. Mason

Albert E. "Burt" Mason, 58, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2007 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born on March 19, 1949 in Topeka, the son of Elbert Edward and Jovita Obregon Mason. He attended Assumption School where he served as an alter boy and Topeka High School. He was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad for several years and retired from Hills Pet Nutrition in May of 2005. Burt married Gail Ann Hudspeth. She preceded him in death. Survivors include one son, Randy L. Mason of Topeka, one daughter, Brenda Totman of Osage City, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one brother, Charles Mason of Topeka, four sisters, Bernadette Cory of Norwalk, OH, Rita Dickens of Georgia, Cindy Evarts of Topeka, Marti Cory of Springhill, TN, one half-brother, Simon Cook of Topeka and one half-sister, Lois Marcum of Topeka. Burt was also preceded in death by one daughter, Michelle Mason and one son, Craig McCall, one sister, Mary Ellen Jones and one half-brother, Dayton Cook. Memorial services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Private inurnment will take place in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Midland Hospice Care, 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
