Alan Grant Beal

Alan Grant Beal, age 60, of Ozawkie, Ks. formerly of Topeka passed away Friday, January 23, 2004 in Houston, Texas after a courageous 16 year battle with cancer. Alan was born August 30, 1943 in Yates Center, Ks., the son of Claude and Fern Taylor Beal. He grew up in Rose and Yates Center with his mother and step-father, Clyde Johnson. Alan graduated from Yates Center High School in 1961 and attended Allen County Community College and Emporia State University. In 1962, Alan married his high school sweetheart, Marcia Dianne Stockebrand. To this marriage was born Stacie JaLynne, Jeffery Alan and Shannon Dianne. Alan was employed by Frito-Lay for thirteen years as a driver an in management. Most recently he was a driver for Steel and Pipe Supply. He spent the last 4 years gardening, woodworking and enjoying his home in the country. He was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church. He leaves behind his loving family: his wife Marcia of the home, daughter Stacie and Doug Hilmes and grandsons, Jordan and Jackson of Mansfield, Texas; son Jeff and Pam Beal and grandchildren, Daniel, Deanna and Mitchell of Ozawkie, Ks., ; daughter Shannon Yancy and granddaughter Hayley of Topeka; mother, Fern Leasure and sister Clyta Bolze of Topeka and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Beal in 1943, step-father, Clyde Johnson in 1967 and grandson, Cole Hilmes in 1991. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Highland Park United Methodist Church. Inurnment will follow in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemtery. Following the services, family and friends are invited to the Beal home. In lieu of flowers, the famiy requests memorial contributions be made to the Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 S.E. Michigan Ave., Topeka, Ks. 66605 or to the Leukemia, Lymphoma Society, 555 N. Woodlawn St., Suite 113, Wichita, Ks. 67208. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
