A.J. Pratt

A.J. Pratt, 90, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011.
He was born March 19, 1921 Paragould, Arkansas the son of Mack and Louise Pratt.
A.J. was a military veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during
the African, Sicilian and Italian campaigns. He was awarded the Purple Heart and two Presidential Citations.
He married Dixie Kauffman December 23, 1944 in Holton, Kansas.
She survives. Other survivors include his sister, Ida Mae Driscoll, Lawrence, KS, two grandsons, Matthew and Nicholas Baatrup, one great grandson Brandon Baatrup, and his brother in law John Schlup. Mr. Pratt was preceded in death by his daughter Connie Baatrup in 2009. He was also preceded in death by his sister Wanda Schlup.
Mr. Pratt retired from Southwestern Bell in 1988. He enjoyed photography and many outdoor activities.
Cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka 66604. Private inurnment will be at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to Countryside United Methodist Church or to Midland Hospice Care.
