7. Background: Mrs. Strobel graduated from Lawrence High School and attended the University of Kansas.
She received her Bachelor of Education degree from Washburn University in 1959 and her Master of Education
degree from Washburn in 1968. She came to Topeka from Eudora, Kansas in 1946. Mrs. Strobel taught rural
schools in Jefferson and Douglas Counties for 6 years prior to her marriage. She started the Kindergarten program
in the Pauline schools and taught there for 19 years before retiring in 1974. She was a member of Grace United
Methodist Church, and served as president of the United Methodist Women and the Downtown Opti Mrs. Club.
She was a Life member of the Washburn Auimni Association, and was a member of the national, state and local
NEA. She was a member of the Topeka Association for Retarded Citizens and Sheltered Living, Inc. She was also
a member of the Evangeline Chapter #162, OES in Baldwin City.
