Adam Taylor

Adam Benjamin Taylor, 42, of Lawrence, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

He was born February 7, 1980, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Terry and Peggy (Lindley) Taylor. Adam was a Topeka native. He attended Randolph Elementary, Robinson Middle School and graduated from Topeka High School in 1998, where he participated in forensics, football, band and debate.

Adam continued his education through various Junior Colleges, including, Highland, Hutchinson and Eldorado. While he was attending Hutchison Junior College, Adam worked as a Security Guard through the prison. He later attended Emporia State University, graduating with a degree in Business Marketing in 2006, where he met the love of his life, Deborah. Adam and Deborah were united in marriage on June 3, 2006 in Emporia, Kansas at Faith Lutheran Church.

He had a huge heart and will be remembered for his loving character and willingness to help others. Bringing joy to those around him was something he did daily. As a bus driver for those with special needs, he brightened their day as their driver.

Boy Scouts played a large part in his life. He was active in Troop 10 at University United Methodist. He earned numerous awards and was an Eagle Scout and participated in Camp Jayhawk. He was a staff member one summer at Philmont Scout Reservation. The summer before, he and his father, Terry went on trek with Troop 10. He was a Brotherhood Member of Order of the Arrow. His Eagle project utilized Historical Ritchie House in Topeka.

Adam was a Chiefs, Royals and K-State Fan. He enjoyed baseball when he was younger and collecting baseball cards. He also enjoyed watching golf and Jeopardy every day at 5:00 p.m. - he was very good at guessing!

His family meant a lot to him and his cat River held a special place in his life. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah; parents, Terry and Peggy Taylor; brother, Paul (Beth) Taylor; brother-in-law, David (Tammy) Handke; niece, Landyn Taylor; nephew, Westley Handke; uncles, Robert (Jean Mann) Taylor, James (Kay) Taylor and David (Mary Jo Phelps) Lindley; aunt, Candise (Galen) Fountain; aunt, Marilyn Bishop Taylor, as well as numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert (Helen) Taylor and maternal grandparents, Benjamin (Helen) Lindley and his in laws, Mark and Terry Handke and a special aunt, Jurie Woolery Lindley

Cremation is planned. A celebration of Adam's life will be held 11:00am on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Topeka Bible Church, 1101 SW Mulvane, Topeka, Kansas 66604. Private burial will take place at Rochester Cemetery in Topeka.
