Ada Luella Heisler

Ada "Lu" Heisler, 92, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021.

She was born March 17, 1929, in Wellsville, Kansas, the daughter of Dan and Gladys (Rew) Hoffmeier.
Luella was a receptionist and nurse for Dr. Ed McClintock in 1974 and later with Dr. John E. Crary for over 10 years.

She was an active member of First Lutheran Church, Topeka, Kansas including church Bible studies, the Altar Guild, Sewing Guild, hospitality, and served communion.

She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Chapter 1, Alpha Theta Chapter 974, Air Force Sergeant, National WWII Glider Pilots Association and Master Gardner's of Topeka.

Lu enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing dominos, dancing at the Vinewood, sewing, especially needle point and cross stitch, reading, and serving the church. She never met a stranger and enjoyed making people laugh. Lu was a very compassionate and generous person. She loved cats, reality TV and cooking shows, and going out to eat with her family at Olive Garden or El Mezcal. Lu enjoyed entertaining her friends and family for birthdays and holidays. She enjoyed listening to music, especially country music. Over her life she made trips to Branson with her sisters to see Marty Robbin and Willie Nelson.

On November 10, 1976, she married William "Bill" J. Heisler in Topeka. He preceded her in death on September 19, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Randal J. Swain; step-mother, Vickie Hoffmeier; sisters, Marjorie McCready and Patty Mueller; and step-daughter, Phyllis Pierce.

Survivors include her sister, Olive (Albert) Taylor, Independence, KS; step-son, Roger (Paulette) Heisler; nieces, Margaret (Darrell) Brown, Teresa Taylor, Grace (Jerry) Kemp; nephews, John (Charlene) McCready, Mike Mueller, Mark Mueller, Jack (Cathy) Mueller, and David (Carolyn) Taylor; three grandchildren, Kylee Swain, Gary Pearce, and Stacey Boxberger; one great granddaughter, Isabella Delacruz; great nephew, Dan McCready and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1:00pm on Friday, July 2, 2021 at First Lutheran Church, Topeka. A visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church Emergency Fund.
