A. Jeanne Edwards

October 11, 1935 — April 23, 2018

A. Jeanne Edwards died Monday April 23, 2018 at her home.

She was married to Robert L Edwards, January 1, 1953, in Topeka, KS, by Reverend Walter Carson. The couple have been Topeka residents since 1954. Jeanne was the youngest of eleven children of Clarence H and Mary E (Signor) Shaver. She was born in Rural Atchison, KS October 11,1935. She moved with her parents to Jefferson County, KS in 1947 and graduated from Valley Falls High School. As she raised her family she also operated a home daycare for twelve years, then worked for a few years in Falley's Bakery, assisted husband, Bob, in the operation of Edwards Floor Maintenance for 25 years, and worked 15 years as a medical receptionist. Jeanne was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and, before that, Community Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, of 65 years, four children: Robb (Gayle), Overland Park, KS; Elaine (David Berry), Round Rock, TX; Harold (Jackie) Wichita, KS; Aileen Edwards Finney, Topeka, eight grandchildren: Emily Edwards, CO; Ryan (Lisa) Edwards, Olathe, KS; Tim (Kelly) Edwards, Overland Park, KS; Carrianne Bernatis (Andy Dierschke), Austin, TX; Justin (Crystal) Edwards, Ft. Hood, TX; Brandon Edwards, Mulvane, KS; James Edwards, Wichita, KS; and Loghan Elaine Finney, Topeka, KS. Nine great-grandchildren survive: Meghan and Cooper Budt, Emma, Isabella, and Timothy Edwards, Sean and Andrew Edwards, Tristan Berryhill and Lily Abbott. Mrs Edwards is survived by her dear sister, Norma Dimon, Ulysses, PA, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Mrs Edwards in death were her parents, brothers Jacob, Duward, Clarence, Victor, Charles, Bill, Bob, Dick, and sister, Mary Keaton.

Jeanne was an avid reader, it was one of her favorite pastimes. In the 1970's she volunteered at the Topeka Public Library delivering books to the homebound. In her later years Jeanne was able to enjoy frequent visits from the Red Carpet staff at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library herself. It was a difficult task to keep in reading material as she would fly through the books that were delivered. As her vision worsened Jeanne also enjoyed the Talking Books program through the State Library of Kansas.
