Robert "Bob" Lee Massey

Robert (Bob) Lee Massey, 90, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on February 10, 1934 in Chalk, Kansas, the son of John S. and Alice Hildreth (Grove) Massey.
Bob graduated from Alta Vista High School in 1954, after which he married his soulmate, Lesa M. Bonar, and moved to Topeka, Kansas to work for Goodyear and start their family. He would ultimately work for more than 40 years at Goodyear and was married to Lesa for 62 years until the time of her death in 2017. He and Lesa built a wonderful life and legacy together with 3 children, 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a host of close friends.
Bob was a kind, selfless man who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was very social and always active. In his younger days playing softball, refereeing football, umpiring baseball, repairing small engines, square dancing, playing golf, and much more. In his later years, continually tweaking his backyard oasis, which was full of happy birds, fat squirrels and beautiful plants. He made a positive impact on many lives and was universally loved and respected.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lesa, and brother Gary.
He is survived by his siblings; Anna Mae Robidou, Alice Schultz, Dean (Margot) and Gayle (Joyce), his children; Chris (Deanna), Kelly, and Tim (Lori), his grandchildren; Janet (Amy), Chelsea, Lauren (Kevin), Mallory (Doug), Phillip (Jennafer), and Stephanie, and great grandchildren; Zane, Aiden, Mason, Drake, Marley, Sophia, Dallas, Brinley, Lincoln, Charlee, Zoe, and Mia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Midland Hospice Care, 200 Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606 or to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
Family will greet friends starting at 9:00 a.m., Friday, July 19, 2024, followed by a memorial service starting at 10:00 a.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town in Topeka. Inurnment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.
