Dolores Kirk

Dolores Kirk, 89, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on July 2, 2024, in Lees Summit, Missouri.

She was born on June 12, 1935 to George Hess and Doris (Wolfe) in Wichita, KS. She graduated from Highland Park High School, and later from Kansas State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education.

Very active in sports, she was a left handed pitcher for the Ohse Meats Softball Team, better known as Lefty to her teammates, and an avid bowler for 50 years. She also enjoyed quilting, loved animals, and was a huge Royals fan.
Dolores worked as a Administrative Secretary for Stormont-Vail in Topeka for 17 years.

She was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church for many years.

Dolores is survived by her sister; Lavon Hess, brother; Jim Hess, loving daughters; Angie (Scott) Benortham, Tracy (Justin) Tackett, son; Douglas (Michelle) Kirk, seven grandchildren, Morgan Benortham, Hannah Tackett, Shelby Mulkey, Caroline Tackett, Mallory Benortham, Greyson Tackett, and Jake Benortham; and one great-granddaughter, Stella McClane.

Private family graveside service is planned.
