Frances Marie (Hall) Miller, 93, died Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in Topeka. Frances was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. She was an elementary school teacher for 34 years before her retirement, and retained her teacher traits of connecting with those around her until her last day.

Frances was born Aug. 26, 1930 in Ray County, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond and Floy May (Baker) Hall. She was the youngest of five children. She received a bachelor’s degree in education from McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas, in 1952, and a master’s degree in education from Washburn University in 1973. She taught elementary education in McPherson, Manhattan, Lebanon, N.J., and Topeka.

Frances was active in church, education and mental health organizations. Her family was her world and she rarely missed being involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.

She married Bryce B. Miller on Dec. 16, 1951, in Stet, Mo. He died March 3, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Keith Culver, on March 3, 2024, and her three brothers, Marvin, Ralph and Von Hall, and sister, Betty Clemens.

Survivors include her daughters, Cheryl (Ron) Roberts and Anita (Steve) Fry; two grandchildren, Andy (Kristina) Fry and Meredith Fry; two great-granddaughters, Ava and Anna Fry; a granddaughter-in-law, Deanna Culver; two step-granddaughters, Ashley Jones and Amanda DeVaux; three step great-grandchildren, Mason, Mallory and Mitch Jones; sister-in-law, Sybil Keim; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frances also loved her extended “family” at Homestead Assisted Living in Topeka, where she enjoyed her final years surrounded by a caring, fun and supportive team who her family truly cherishes.

Private family graveside services will held at Stet, Mo.
