Dale Shubert

June 30, 1954 — May 16, 2024

Dale Shubert, 69, of Topeka, passed away on May 16, 2024 at Stormont Vail Hospital.

Dale was born to Harold & Lorraine Shubert on June 30, 1954, in Topeka, Kansas, and was pending his 70th birthday.

Harold, Dale’s father, served in the Army as a young man, and then worked for the State of Kansas Department of Transportation for the majority of his career. Lorraine, Dale’s mother, also worked for the State of Kansas. Harold and Lorraine grew up in Beattie and Franklin, Kansas. Both Harold and Lorraine are now deceased and rest at Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka, in the Veteran’s Garden.

Dale’s grandparents and cousins were in Marysville and Axtell, Kansas. Dale was the younger brother of his sister, Alta Marie Shubert Jacoby. She currently resides in Woodland Park, Colorado, and is married to John T. Jacoby, Dale’s brother-in-law. She is a retired RN and John is retired from Yamaha and a musician.

Dale grew up in Highland Park, Topeka. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1972. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the Navy, and served three years on the USS Charleston in the Mediterranean as a storekeeper on the ship. In 1975 he returned to Topeka to start a civilian life after his honorable discharge. He worked for the State of Kansas Printing Division and then was hired and trained as a Drywall Finisher in construction. He worked construction for the majority of his career and retired in 2019.

Dale met Caroline Recob in 1975 as a coworker at Harry’s IGA at 29th and Adams. They began dating as she attended Nursing School and were married June 18, 1977, at Holy Name Catholic Church. Caroline’s parents, David L. Recob and Francoise Recob, came to Topeka upon her father’s retirement in 1974 from the military in Fort Riley, Kansas. David worked for the Masonic Grand Lodge post military and passed in May 1994. Francoise, her mother, was married to David in France in 1956, and worked for the State of Kansas as a telephone operator until her retirement and currently resides in Topeka. Caroline’s brother, Patrick Recob and his wife Lisa, reside in Merriam, Kansas. Patrick is also a musician and works in the medical field.

Caroline (67), Dale’s wife, is a RN at Stormont Vail and is retiring after 46 years. Dale and Caroline raised their two daughters, Christine Shubert Negrete (42) of Topeka, and Sarah Marie Shubert (37) of Topeka. Both daughters graduated from Highland Park Highschool. Christine is married to Daniel H. Negrete (44) and is a AAA travel agent. Dan works for Frito Lay. Their sons, Dale’s grandsons, are David L. Negrete (19) who attends KU University, and Thomas D. Negrete (17) who is a Senior at Shawnee Heights High School. Sarah Marie Shubert (37) is a full-time mother for Natalie J. Shubert (3), Dale and Caroline’s granddaughter. Sarah also resides in Topeka.

Dale’s interests centered around Chiefs Football, that he avidly shared as a fan with his oldest daughter Christine. His other love was Nascar racing. He attended races at Indy 500, Daytona, and Kansas Speedway. Other hobbies were occasional fishing, golf, and YouTube music videos. His taste in music were Country, and 70’s & 80’s Rock and Roll. He loved military Aviation and viewing global political and war situations in other countries. He valued the American worker, and upheld USA made products as a Republican and a Trump supporter. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke it made impact to his friends and family. He was kind, honest, and a wonderful son, brother, husband, friend, father, and grandfather with excellent ethics who will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
