Barbara Jean Taylor passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024 in Gardner, Kansas. Barb was born on May 28, 1937 in Paxico, Kansas, the daughter of Elijah and Eva Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Leon, Leroy and Elmer Smith.
She married William (Biddy) Taylor on March 24, 1954 in Manhattan, Kansas. He died in 1972.
She was on the Manhattan Police Departments from 1964 until she moved to Topeka in 1974. After her move to Topeka, she was employed by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation for a number of years. She later went to work for the Kansas Foundation for Medical Care and later the Kansas Neurological Institute (KNI).
She is survived by her sister, Zella Lawton; two nieces, Sonja Stubbs and Chalyce Howard both in Topeka and a host of other relatives and friends.
Barbara's family will greet friends and family begining at 10:00am on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, Kansas. A funeral service will follow at 11:00am on Thursday, June 20, 2024. She will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery.
