Evelyn Leone Schley

Evelyn Gilbert Schley, 87, of Paxico, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024.

She was born November 20, 1936, in Barton, New York, the daughter of Harold and Lucille (Rawstern) Gilbert.

Evelyn married Beryl Dean Schley on November 27, 1954 in Yale, South Dakota. They were inseparable and went everywhere together. To their union in marriage, they have six children, Rick, Gary, Sandy, Donna, Irene and Stan.

Evelyn worked as a Farm Hand and served many capacities for the Hudson Farms. She enjoyed many trips that her family took with the Highway Oil groups.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in McFarland, Kansas and was a LWML.

Evelyn’s pride and joy is her family. They went on many camping trips and attended family reunions together. She also enjoyed quilting, reading, cooking, hunting, and playing cards. Evelyn also enjoyed working on puzzles and cross word puzzles. She raised bird dogs for many years. She loved to listen to country music.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Beryl Dean Schley; her children, Rick (Jane) Schley, Gary (Donna) Schley, Sandra (Mike) Swygert, Donna (Tim) Townsend, Irene (Brad) Mayer and Stan (Rhonda) Schley; twenty grandchildren; forty-nine great grandchildren; one great- great grandchild and twelve siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings.

Her family will greet friends and relatives from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in McFarland, Kansas. Service of Christian Burial will be held at10:30 am., Saturday, April 27, 2024 Trinity Lutheran Church, McFarland, KS. She will be laid to rest at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in McFarland, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Trinity Lutheran Church, 322 Main Street, McFarland, KS 66501 or donate a puzzle to an adult senior center of your choice.
