Jean Carlene Myers, 90, of Topeka, passed away Friday, March 22, 2024.
She was born July 11, 1933, in Hiawatha, Kansas, the daughter of William and Maude (Hurd) Davis. Jean spent a large portion of her childhood in Tennessee. Her family later moved back to Kansas and she graduated from Highland High School. After graduation she attended Highland Junior College and earned her Associates Degree.
Jean married Delbert Wayne Myers on September 6, 1953 in St. Joseph, Missouri. They welcomed four daughters, Sue, Barbie, DeAnn and Peggy. They were happily married for 63 years.
Jean was employed by Washburn University as an Administrative Assistant and enjoyed the many friendships she developed while working there.
Mrs. Myers was a member of the West Side Christian Church, of Topeka. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star - Vanderslice Chapter.
Jean enjoyed decorating, remodeling and moving. She quilted and crafted. She was an avid Jayhawks Basketball fan. Jean was a master pie maker and loved classic country music. Her favorite hobby was supporting her grandchildren's events.
She leaves behind her daughters, Sue (Bruce) Givens, Barbara (Doug) Koelling, DeAnn (Steve) Spade and Peggy (Steve) Snook; her six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and siblings, Helen B. Miller, Hazel M. Coughlin, John D. Davis and Charles B. Davis.
A memorial graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Westlawn Memorial Garden at 11:00 am. Following the service per Jean's wishes, we will gather for pie. Memorial contributions may be made to Interim Hospice of Topeka, 1251 SW Arrowhead Rd, #103, Topeka, KS 66604 or to Presbyterian Manor, 4712 SW 6th, Topeka, KS 66606 in appreciation for their compassionate care.
