Ron D. Neis

Ron Neis, 76, of Topeka, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024. His legacy will carry on through his gracious donation to Midwest Transplant as an organ and tissue donor.
He was born December 16, 1947, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Donald and Sharlyn (Firestone) Neis. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1966. Following graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country in Vietnam.
Ron married Clydale Smith on September 6, 1969 in Jacksonville, AR. They welcomed three children, Rhonda, Ryan and Kyle.
For more than 30 years he served as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He was a proud member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. During this time he also delivered newspapers for the Topeka Capitol Journal. Following his retirement, he continued to serve his community by delivering for a local pharmacy.
Ron enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was especially fond of training and working with his hunting dogs and spending quality time with his hunting buddies. He was an avid football fan of Washburn University and enjoyed attending games each season. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and they will miss him dearly.
He leaves behind his wife, Clydale Neis; two sons, Ryan (Caty) Neis and Kyle (Jen) Neis; his grandchildren, Oscar Neis and Wyatt Neis; mother, Sharlyn Neis and siblings, Mark (Jill Michaux) Neis and Brad (Pat) Neis. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Neis and his father Don.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 1pm, followed by a memorial ceremony at 2:00 pm, at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th St., Topeka, Kansas 66604. In his honor, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Combat Air Museum 7016 SE Forbes Avenue, Topeka, KS 66619.
