Floyd D. Marlatt

Floyd D. "Butch" Marlatt, 83, of Topeka, passed away on January 18, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 14, 1940 to Floyd and Edna (Edwards) Marlatt at McClouth, KS.

One of Butch's proudest accomplishments, outside of his family, was his service with the United States Navy.
He left for bootcamp (San Diego) November 1961. And then moved to Monterey for the next 4 years.
Floyd "Butch" Marlatt was an Aviation Storekeeper 3rd Class in the US Navy. He ordered and maintained parts for aircraft at the base.

Floyd, known as Butch to many, worked for General Printing, then Graphic Promotions for over 30 years. He work as a four color stripper at the shop.

On September 22, 1967, he married Carolyn Jo Marlatt (Goodrich) in Abilene, KS. Floyd and Carolyn lived in Topeka, Kansas.
He was a member of the Seabrook Masonic Lodge starting in 1972. In 1977, he became President and held many other titles over the 40+ years. Dad attended Faith Lutheran Church in Topeka, KS. He and Carolyn also joined the Chevy Car Club in Topeka. One of dad's favorite club activities was delivering to the clubs Christmas families. They also were part of the Antique Glass Club that met at the Topeka Shawnee County Public Library.

Besides clubs, dad enjoying keeping a clean yard, grilling all year, going to auctions, and visiting with neighbors in the alley. And dancing with Carolyn either at holiday parties or in their living room. Above all, he loved his 2 grandchildren and played a large part in raising them.

He was preceded in death by his father; Floyd William Marlatt, mother; Edna Marlatt, sisters; Lorena Montgomery and Rosemary Herting, two brothers; Eddie Marlatt and George Marlatt.

Floyd is survived by his loving wife; Carolyn, daughters; Marla Marlatt, Jennifer (Colby Carpenter) Marlatt, Judson Schmitt, grandson; Kerstin Schmitt, granddaughter; brother Kenneth Marlatt; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 26, 2024, from 11:00 am until 1:00
pm at Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, Kansas 66604.

Graveside services will follow the visitation and will be at 2:00 pm at the Wamego Cemetery, Wamego, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to the Phoenix Home Health and Hospice Care or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Dad always said: I led a good life, full of love with family and friends, and friends that became family. I have been blessed.
