Antonio "Tony" Ramos

Antonio "Tony" Ramos, 92, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023.
He was born June 13, 1931, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Estanislao and Mary (Cavello) Ramos. He graduated from Hutchinson High School. Tony attended Washburn University and graduated with an Associate Degree.
Tony joined the United States Navy 1948 and proudly served for twenty years. He earned the rank of Chief Yeoman. He looked forward to his annual Navy reunion and enjoyed visiting with other service members and their families.
He married Shelia R. Ramos on April 16, 1966 in Colorado Springs, Co. They met while he was serving in the Navy and Sheila was serving in the Army and both were stationed in Colorado Springs. They would eventually move back to Hutchinson, Kansas. They welcomed two children, Lisa and Tonya. Prior to his marriage to Shelia, Tony had three children, Robert, Toni and Andra. They became a loving family of seven.
Tony was a simple man that loved to spend time with his family and friends. One of his favorite things to do was go to his grandchildren's sporting events and cheer them on. He also enjoyed getting together with his friends to have a beer, usually at his favorite spots, the Pizza Parlor and 20's West. He enjoyed traveling to Kentucky to see family with his wife and children. Tony also enjoyed reading, watching Western movies and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs.
He leaves behind his wife, Shelia R. Ramos; children, Andra D. Ramos, Lisa Ramos and Tonya West; eleven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his children, Robert A. Ramos and Toni D. Sanchez; his parents and siblings, Joe A. Ramos, Rose Mary Valdez and Larry Ramos.
A memorial ceremony will be held at 11:00 am., Monday, December 4, 2023, at Mount Hope Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th , Topeka, Kansas 66604. His family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to the service. Military Honors and a graveside service will follow the memorial service at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society 5720 SW 21st, Topeka, KS 66604.
