Theodore Donald Percell

Theodore Donald Percell passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Lebanon, Missouri. Mr. Percell lived a long full life. Born to Theodore Edward Percell and Viola Hood Percell in Spokane, Washington on January 27, 1923, he grew to manhood on a ranch near St. Paul, Nebraska.

He joined the U.S. Navy during World War II and served in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he worked on several Nebraska Sand Hills cattle ranches as a cowboy and ranch hand. He then worked in a detective agency, and near the end of his work life, ran a dry cleaner.

He was 94 and died from complications of Influenza B.

Mr. Percell was preceded in death in 2014 by his adoring wife, Etta Goos Percell and in 2002 by daughter, Donna Percell Wellman, two sisters, May and Joyce, and brother, Mel.

He is survived by his brother, Junior; son, Denis and his wife Sandra; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

His friends called him Ted, and to family he was known as Don. Christ was his acknowledged Savior from a young age and he grew in wisdom throughout his life. He was a member of The Assemblies of God Church where he was involved in Prime Timers. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and was an ardent student of history and geography.

A visitation for Mr. Percell will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, KS. A funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the Mount Hope Cemetery and Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, KS.
